Haitham Abu Al Foul, a spokesperson for the ministry, briefed MPs on the ministry’s measures, taken in coordination with Jordanian institutions, in response to the Ukraine crisis and its developments, while keeping in touch with Jordanians and ensuring their safety.

Abu Foul reviewed the efforts of the embassies and diplomatic staff at Ukraine’s border crossings with Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, as well as the procedures and necessary services provided to Jordanians, who had arrived there, including issuing documents, providing buses, and securing appropriate accommodation in advance of their departure for the Kingdom.

Abu Foul said 636 Jordanians have crossed the border from Ukraine with help from the ministry’s staff at the crossings so far, while 232 were assisted in returning home. Under Royal directives, military evacuation aircraft flew to Romania and Hungary and evacuated 140 citizens and their families, as well as a number of Palestinians, he said.

Regarding Jordanians’ challenges and difficulties, he said that the government has maintained contact to inform citizens of the latest developments related to the crisis in Ukraine and continues to issue related warnings. MP Haina thanked the ministry for monitoring closely the situation of Jordanians in Ukraine, and for providing all forms of support and assistance to them.
